12 Most Epic Godzilla Battles

Although the MonsterVerse has not reached its end, there is no question Godzilla facing off against Kong was the showdown we were all waiting for. Because we've been eager to see the two titans clash again after a 59- year hiatus, the hype was unrealistically high. And yet, the bout surpassed expectations.

The most common criticism the MonsterVerse has recieved is how the battles are blanketed in darkness. The final fight in Godzilla vs Kong may be at nighttime but the scene is lit up in neon orange, blue, and purple, ensuring the viewer doesn't miss anything.

Although we were expected an schlocky slugfest, the battle between the titular characters is far more inventive. Kong quickly acknowledges Godzilla is his superior, forcing him to rely on evasion and redirecting Godzilla's atomic blasts.

The CGI on Kong's face allows the audience to read his expressions so we can see him feeling genuine terror while trying to formulate a plan. Because you sympathise with Kong, you are more invested in the fight than if it was a generic scrap. The movie itself is riddled with two-dimensional characters and Hollow Earth-sized plotholes but the battle between Godzilla and Kong was an utter triumph.
