12 Most Epic Godzilla Battles

9. Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla - Godzilla Vs MechaGodzilla II (1993)

Godzilla vs Kong
Toho

When Godzilla clashed with his robotic doppelgänger the first time, Godzilla was depicted as the hero and his metal counterpart was the villain. But in Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II (which is actually the third time the pair faced each other), the roles were reversed.

This time, MechaGodzilla was built by the government to stop Godzilla from tearing up the city for the tenth millionth time.

What makes this fight stand out is how versatile and efficient MechaG is. He doesn't come across as just another monster. He acts like a machine designed to destroy Godzilla. The android overwhelms his rival, blasting him with eye beams, arm launchers, a megabuster, missile launchers, heat-seeking missiles, lightning bolts, and tranquillisers.

The most devastating moment is when the Mecha pierces Godzilla's hide with razor-sharp cables, causing him to gush blood. He then sends volts of lightning through the cables, electrocuting Godzilla internally.

Just when you thought MechaGodzilla couldn't be more overpowered, he pulls a Power Rangers and attaches himself to a warship, transforming into SuperMechaGodzilla. Because Godzilla is the underdog for the entire fight, you desperately want him to win... even though MechaGodzilla is technically the hero.
