6. Stan Lee: The Watcher - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2

This one has taken on added meaning in the wake of the great man's death, but the Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 moment that seemingly confirmed that Stan Lee was indeed a Watcher - and thus that all of his MCU cameos were the same character in different disguises - was already brilliant.

Fans had speculated that Lee's traditional appearances were all tied together, with one popular theory suggesting that he was, in fact, Uatu The Watcher, the ancient, supremely powerful being whose race were committed to observing and compiling knowledge on all aspects of the universe. That would explain why someone who looked the same could apparently have some many personas.

James Gunn - being so impressively in touch with the fans as he was - clearly decided to play up to the theory in one of the mid-credits sequences of Vol 2, implying that Lee was Uatu by having him report back to other Watchers. That direct line between fans and film-maker was exactly why Gunn will be missed so much.
