1. Borat Offends Everyone

Somehow throughout the promotions for his 2006 mockumentary Sacha Baron Cohen managed to stay in character as Borat Sagdiyev, Kazakhstan€™s least favourite €˜journalist€™ €“ no easy feat considering the amount of press conferences and interviews he attended. For those who were already familiar with Borat from Baron Cohen€™s earlier projects it was hilarious, but those who weren€™t in on the joke (namely Americans who hadn€™t grown up watching Da Ali G Show) there was a bit of confusion over whether this mouth party loving, mankini wearing oddity was actually for real or not. Predictably, the promotion and film irked the Kazakh government who campaigned for the movie not to be released in the country, though funnily enough by 2012 foreign minister Yerzhan Kazykhanov was praising Borat for putting Kazakhstan on the tourist map. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXjSfW8dVRA Which other WTF marketing campaigns belong on this list?
