12 Most Paused Horror Movie Moments

Granted, the ending of M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs kind of let the whole movie down. Divine intervention by Mel Gibson’s dead wife we can handle, but an alien race intelligent enough to invade our planet but too stupid to realise it’s 70% water – their one great weakness? Come on, Shyamalan.

But to give Shyamalan his dues, the movie did boast a pants-wettingly scary moment that had us all pausing the DVD for a better look and it’s when we and the fictional characters of Signs get our first proper glimpse of the big bad aliens accidentally caught on camera at a kids’ birthday party in Brazil.

While the alien was no Xenomorph, he wasn’t exactly a cuddly E.T. either. Obviously, by this point in the movie we weren’t aware that the aliens dissolved in water and could be easily defeated with a bottle of Evian so it was a lot scarier then, okay?
