12 Most Radical Body Transformations For Comic Book Movies
8. Henry Cavill - Man Of Steel
Weight Gain: 20 pounds
Coming into Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill was not in Superman condition - or at least not Zack Snyder's idea of Superman condition - having slimmed down to 170 pounds for the awful Immortals. Naturally, something had to change, and in order to gain 20 pounds of muscle he worked with Mark Twight - the man famously responsible for turning the 300 cast into underwear models - training twice a day and eating 5000-6000 calories.
In five months ahead of production, Cavill managed to bulk to 190 pounds and cut his body fat for his shirtless scenes to a ridiculous 3%. Which is less than an apple, probably.
And if you're unsure of what he went through, Twight's gym mantra gives you a fairly good picture:
“Gym Jones is not a cozy place. There are no televisions, no machines, no comfortable spot to sit . Effort and pain may not be avoided. Physical and psychological breakdowns occur.”
And you get a sense of his workouts here...
