12 Most Surprising Revelations In 2016's Comic Book Movies
3. Mister Sinister Joins The Fray - X-Men: Apocalypse
The Revelation: Apocalypse's post-credits scene shows some agents cleaning up Stryker's facility following Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) bloody escape. A sample of Wolverine's blood is then locked inside a briefcase with the inscription, "Essex Corp", a clear reference to Nathaniel Essex aka Mister Sinister.
Why It Was Surprising: Post-credits scenes are of course expected with pretty much every superhero movie these days, so while this scene was always quite likely to set up the next villain, it was a shock to see Mister Sinister nodded to so explicitly.
Not long before Apocalypse's release, director Bryan Singer had hinted at wanting to adapt Proteus to the big screen, and many took this to mean that the post-credits scene would further allude to that.
Instead, Sinister will presumably be the villain in The New Mutants or whatever the Hell the next core X-Men movie is. Get hype.
