1. Jeremy Irons' Alfred - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice + Justice League

When looking through the catalogue of actors to play the character of Bruce Wayne's butler and guardian Alfred Pennyworth, there has been some notably strong performances. Michael Caine was outstanding throughout the Dark Knight trilogy, bringing real heart to the role as a spiritual adviser and father figure. Michael Gough was more than serviceable in the role during the Keaton/Kilmer/Cooney days, and was one of the few actors left with their dignity intact after Batman & Robin.

But the performance of Jeremy Irons in both films he undertook the role of Alfred proved to be the best interpretation of the character yet. Making Alfred slightly younger and more directly involved in Master Bruce's plans was a great choice, and allowed us to be far more invested in the character. The screenwriters also gave Irons some of the best lines, in particular in Dawn of Justice when he questioned Bruce's motives and decision making.

Irons performance is near faultless throughout both films, still being the wise old head for Bruce to bounce ideas off, but also willing to get his hands dirty. It is such a great shame that the build up created by his "He said you'd come" line amounted to nothing, as Irons' delivery was truly epic. For this reason alone, the Snyder cut simply must be released!
