12 Movie Franchises That Could Have Turned Out So Much Better

9. The Incredibles 2

The Incredibles With Pixar seemingly making sequels to every one of their films, how has The Incredibles not got a sequel? It's the one film they made that warrants a follow up (or ten). Essentially, it was everything the Fantastic Four films should have been. A dysfunctional family mixed with humour and action, bickering siblings forced to put side their issues to unite against a common threat. More than that, it was a superhero film with heart. The brilliant take on superheroes forced to go into hiding as a result of their actions and the destruction they cause (a theme picked up at the end of The Avengers). That brilliant moment when the mum tells her kids to run if they see something coming for them on the island - it is a genuine moment of danger and shows a parent giving her children the support and guidance to survive the world around them. Plus it had a flaming baby...how can you get better than that? The Incredibles has the potential to take superhero films to the next level. While films like Thor and the upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy are finally realising the fantastical right from the comic book pages, animation can do simply anything. A sequel to this Pixar classic could give its audience spectacular action sequences and super powers without the need to blend special effects realistically with film. But more than that, I would love to see this family grow. On film there would only be so much you could do before the child actors grew up, but in animation we could have several adventures of Dash or Violet as children - in a superhero franchise that is a unique perspective to have. So the question still stands why are we getting Cars 2 and its (unwanted?) spin off Planes, when superhero franchises continue to remain hot property and Pixar have their own franchise waiting in the wings? Director Brad Bird has voiced his ideas for a follow up and recently Samuel L Jackson (Frozone) announced that he keeps asking when the sequel will happen. So come on Pixar. Where is it?
