12 Movie Idiots Who Basically Created Their Own Villains
9. Odin Acts A D*ck To His Own Son - Thor
It's probably difficult not to have a favourite son when one is blonde, muscular and beautiful (and a natural son), and the other is the weasley, clammy-looking adopted offspring of a frost monster, so it's not entirely impossible to understand where Odin's bias towards Thor comes from, but the fact that he managed to turn Loki into a super-villain proves the idiocy of that behaviour.
Despite the fact that Loki and Thor both conceive ridiculous plots to prove themselves worthy to their father - and Thor's attack on Jutenheim actually causes an inter-galactic war with a formidable enemy - their treatment is imbalanced in favour of Thor. He might be banished, but he's sent to Earth - a nice planet with sexy human scientists to fall in love with, along with his hammer and the unexpressed task of proving himself worthy, whereas Loki's attempt to destroy Jutenheim entirely and prove himself worthy is sneered at and leads to him being basically cast aside with no means to redeem himself.
He might be genetically predisposed to be a bad guy, but Loki's is ultimately a misguided search for approval from a father who loves his brother more, and if Odin had been a bit more fair, Loki probably wouldn't have turned out to be such a thorn in the Avengers' side.
