12 Movie Idiots Who Basically Created Their Own Villains

7. Flynn Didn't Build A Back-Door In - Tron Legacy

If decades of technology horrors and morality tales have taught us anything, it's that you should never give a computer or a programme too much power, because they will always, always abuse it, whether they're a Terminator creating security system or a toaster.

Clearly, Kevin Flynn wasn't aware of the precedent, as the beginning of under-appreciated sequel Tron Legacy confirms that he sought to create a perfect system that could run autonomously while he was back in the real world, safe in the knowledge that absolutely nothing could go wrong with giving artificial intelligence power despite its lack of a moral centre.

Inevitably, Flynn's decision cost him his life in the real world as his Frankenstein's monster - CLU - assumed control, killed all of the helpful ISO beings and started to plot a way to break out of the Grid and basically go full-Hitler on the real world. And all because Flynn not only gave him an unreasonable internal gauge of perfection, but also never wrote a failsafe into his programme that turned him off entirely using a safe word or something.
