12 Movie Sequels That Luckily Didn't Happen
8. Searching For Keyser Soze
Yet another classic which really doesn't need a follow-up, The Usual Suspects is a cult favourite with one hell of a twist. It may be common knowledge now who the infamous Keyser Soze actually is, but it remains a brilliantly executed reveal and a fantastic climax.
The film came out in 1995 and in 2004 director Bryan Singer proposed a follow-up which would see the infamous criminal mastermind pursued by Chazz Palminteri's Detective Dave Kujan. Thankfully, nothing came of the idea and a sequel hasn't been considered since.
Which is a good move, most movie fans will agree; a follow-up would have cheapened the effect of the original's ending, and Keyser Soze would have likely gone from mysterious villain to unnecessarily fleshed-out cliche. Simply put, The Usual Suspects works because of the questions it doesn’t answer.
And given the state of Kevin Spacey and Bryan Singer's now extinct careers, it's safe to say we're fully safe from this ill-advised sequel.
