12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

2. Lethal Weapon 5

Lethal Weapon 5

Ever since Lethal Weapon 4 came out in 1998, there has been talks of another installment to the beloved action franchise, but nothing has ever materialised. At least that was the case until 2017, when discussion about the sequel really began to heat-up between stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, and Warner Bros.

A script has been in development since 2018, penned by Lethal Weapon 4 writer Channing Gibson. The film will be set in the modern day, following Murtaugh (Glover) and Riggs (Gibson) as they fight old age as well as the new bad guys in their path.

Even better than the proposed story, though, is the fact that Richard Donner, director of the last four films, will be returning to the director's chair at 90-years-old, determined to end his series on a high-note.

To top it all off, the film's official title is Lethal Finale, which is just awesome. Due to various pandemic-related delays, the release date is not yet set in stone.
