12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

11. The Boss Baby 2

Demolition Man 2
DreamWorks

The first movie in this wannabe franchise was a strange old project, an animated feature that attempted to live off Alec Baldwin's increased fame at the time of the film's 2017 release. Baldwin had become a hit at the time on Saturday Night Live for his impersonations of Donald Trump, something many adults found hilarious, while not exactly being the material for the young un's. The combination of Baldwin's cutting humour and the normal shenanigans expected in a kid friendly feature proved very jarring, but it didn't stop the film being a solid box office success.

Unsurprisingly, 20th Century Fox have teamed up with Dreamworks once more for the mandatory sequel, with Baldwin once more returning to the role of the talkative baby. Original director Tom McGrath also returns, with the film scheduled for a March 2021 release date, although little else is known re the cast or plot of the film.

It will be interesting to see how successful the film will be, as Baldwin has largely faded from the spotlight since the film's original release. The plot device of a baby who talks and works as an undercover spy will again be the selling point, but with a fair gap between movies one wonders if the sequel can replicate the original's success.
