12 Movie Sequels You Didn't Know Were Coming

10. Death On The Nile

Demolition Man 2
Fox

A sequel of sorts here, with Kenneth Branagh continuing with his vanity project of casting himself as Hercules Poirot in a film he directs. While non Agatha Christie fans found the first Branagh directed film, Murder on the Orient Express, a nice bit of disposable fun, fans of Christie' books were gobsmacked by the liberties made to the story, including an 'action packed' finale. Despite the mixed reviews and Branagh's out of control moustache, the film made a profit, largely off the back of a star studded support cast, including Johnny Depp, Judi Dench and Daisy Ridley.

The second Poirot story that Branagh will tuck into is Death on the Nile, which explores a love triangle that turns murderous. Branagh has once more gathered a ripping support cast, with Gal Gadot the biggest name of the lot, taking on the role of the first victim Linnet Ridgeway-Doyle. Other big names joining the cast include Russell Brand, Armie Hammer, Annette Benning, Dawn French, Julie Saunders and Branagh himself, with the film currently scheduled for a 9 October 2020 release.

Just how many liberties Branagh makes with the script will be a key factor to the film's success. Striking the balance between keeping new fans interested and old fans happy will again prove to be a tricky balancing act for the moustached Director to get right.
