12 Movies & TV Shows You Didn't Know Were Remade On Broadway

8. Pretty Woman

A more recent and short lived Broadway remake belonged to the Julia Robert's classic, Pretty Woman.

With the announcement of a musical counterpart to the nostalgic film, audiences were already hesitant about how Pretty Woman would translate. In the age of the #MeToo movement, we felt far from the generation that made Pretty Woman and its controversial messages a hit in the early 90s. And in 2018, fans weren't too thrilled to watch the character of Edward Lewis singing sweet romance to his escort of the night, while making her "classy."

It seemed audiences were split in half with an older generation finding the musical to be a fun and entertaining rendition, even Julia Roberts herself attended and enjoyed the production. Though some younger audiences weren't impressed and found the show distasteful and cheesy. The intense split caused the show to close within one year and move to The West End.
