The Hero

Harvey Dent is the real hero Gotham deserves. He's an incorruptible hero determined to bring down organised crime and police and government corruption. He's as wholesome as apple pie, basically, and the poster boy for Gotham's resurgence as Batman does the dirty work in the shadows.

He's so good, in fact, that despite us knowing his trajectory, we all still mourned his fall.

But Then...

Trauma is a hell of thing. After Batman unwittingly saves him rather than Rachel from the Joker's gambit, Gotham's white knight has his world pulled from under him. Compounded by grave facial injuries and a mental break, he becomes Two-Face - a schizophrenic villain intent on gaining vengeance.

He might be ruled by the flips of his coin, but he's still a murderer and evil by circumstance, and his arc is easily one of the most tragic in all of comic book movie history.
