6. Hulk/The Incredible Hulk

Like Batman, Bruce Banner€™s problems €“ and by problems we mean turning from a mild-mannered scientist into a raging green beast with superhuman strength every time he gets stressed out €“ are similar to dissociative identity disorder, and though mostly triggered by his unfortunate gamma radiation accident there is a theory that goes a little deeper than that. Traumatic events during childhood are thought to be one of the main causes of dissociative identity disorder and although it was omitted from The Incredible Hulk, Ang Lee€™s Hulk informed us that Bruce Banner€™s father David wasn€™t exactly the nicest person. Not only did he pass on a genetic mutation to his son, he also tried to kill him in a fit of rage as a youngster and €˜accidentally€™ stabbed his wife and Bruce€™s mother in the process (as you do). If that won€™t mess up a kid for life, we don€™t know what will.
