3. The Saint
With Val Kilmer in the lead role coming off his turn as Batman (though he had the horrid remake of The Island Of Dr. Moreau between them), The Saint was set to be big. It looked like a slick, well-produced spy thriller. It focused on a high-tech thief (Kilmer) who assumed the names of saints in carrying out his escapades. And though it hasn't aged well and is often forgotten now, it actually grossed over $150 million worldwide, making it a fairly big hit in 1997. Even fewer remember (at least in this day and age) that The Saint was once a television series on ITV starring Roger Moore. British fans probably have a better chance of remembering the original series (and its follow-up, The Return Of The Saint, from the '70s, and without Moore), but overall, The Saint is a series quickly being lost to time.
