12 Original Films That Could Be Big Hits In 2016
2. Sausage Party
Animated films seem to be the one genre original material stands a good chance at becoming a hit. However Sausage Party has one distinct disadvantage that most animated films don’t have; it’s rated-R.
It comes from the minds of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who also made This Is the End and The Interview. There has been no attempt to hide the fact that the film would be rated R, but we had no idea just how far they were willing to push the envelope until the first trailer dropped a few weeks ago. The first footage was bizarre, shocking and outrageous in the best ways possible.
The story concerns a group of sausages, buns and other foods who are faced with the horrors of the real world outside the grocery store. The insanity of that plot still cannot prepare you for what the film has in store and, judging by the reaction to the trailer, the public is totally onboard.
The voice cast features a slew of Rogen's regular collaborators, like James Franco, Jonah Hill and Bill Hader, while also featuring some interesting new additions like Edward Norton and Salma Hayek. And even more promising, Conrad Vernon (Shrek, Madagascar) is at the helm making sure the animation doesn’t let down the R-rated hilarity.
