Prior to the late ‘80s, future ex-most eligible bachelor George Clooney’s acting career had been largely confined to TV bit roles.

That is until big screen fame finally beckoned in the shape of Return To Horror High – a comedy slasher set on a fictional movie set in an abandoned high school in which Clooney, sporting a rather bouffant hairdo, plays an actor who gets offed rather early in the proceedings.

Proving a penchant for crappy horrors with the word ‘return’ in the title, Clooney starred in the equally awful Return of the Killer Tomatoes the following year as a dude named Matt who gets to utter such lines as ‘That's the bravest thing I've ever seen a vegetable do’. Even though tomatoes are technically a fruit.

Fortunately for Clooney he soon found his feet as an actor in the ‘90s starring in medical TV drama ER and in films like From Dusk Till Dawn and Three Kings. Today he’s the proud owner of a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in political thriller Syriana alongside a Best Film nod for his role as producer on Argo.
