12 Oscar Winning Actors Who Starred In Awful Horror Movies
5. Hilary Swank - <span Style="font-size: 15px;">Sometimes They Come Back … Again</span>
Not to be confused with the later TV show of the same name (although they’re both Joss Whedon creations), the big screen version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was released five years before the TV incarnation and starred Kristy Swanson in the titular role and a then little known Hilary Swank in her first ever film role.
It would take a while for Swank’s career to really get going in the aftermath of Buffy with roles that followed limited to other stinkers like The Next Karate Kid – the fourth, final and most forgettable film in the Karate Kid series – and fellow terrible horror Sometimes They Come Back … Again.
Not that those films proved too much of a hindrance to Hilary. By the time the noughties arrived, she’d been awarded a Best Actress Oscar for her performance as murdered trans man Brandon Teena in the critically acclaimed Boys Don’t Cry and repeated that success just a few years later for her role in Million Dollar Baby.
