12 Questions About Harry Potter Movies That Keep You Up At Night
2. How Could Moody's Eye See Through Harry's Invisibility Cloak?
As early as Harry's first Christmas at Hogwarts, he receives his invisibility cloak passed down from his dad by way of Albus Dumbledore. Throughout the rest of his days as a student, the gift keeps on giving as it allows him free reign of the castle and even Hogsmeade, helping him learn things he'd have otherwise never learned.
It's not until his meeting with Xenophilius Lovegood years and years later that he learns the truth behind the cloak - that it is one of the fabled magical items that make up the Deathly Hallows, and that when combined with the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone, could allegedly help give someone power over death.
Clearly it is one of the most powerful objects we see throughout the entire story. How then, is it possible that Barty Crouch Jr, disguised as Mad-Eye Moody, could see through it? If the cloak can keep the user hidden from death itself, how can it not work on the former Auror?
Obviously, the answer lies within Moody's eye, but that just raises the question of what the eye is made of. What dark magic went into creating an all seeing eye, and how did Alastor even get his hands on it in the first place?
