12 Reasons Movies Were Better When You Were Younger
3. The Effects Felt More Convincing
Though CGI effects have been around for several decades, they've only really taken off in a huge way in the last 15 years or so. For anyone who grew up in the years prior to that, they were more used to seeing effects driven by practical models, which simply retain a more organic feel that computer effects, no matter how refined, simply cannot replicate. Even if you're a kid now, though, you're unlikely to be nitpicking the crappy effects in the Thor movies: you're simply more willing to soak in the world that is being created, and care so much less about some unsavoury motion blur effects that don't look quite right. Like other aspects, this will become more apparent in the years that follow as you grow up: case in point, how many kids grew up loving The Phantom Menace before they realised how abhorrent some of the green-screen work was later on?
