12 Reasons The Star Wars Sequels Aren't As Bad As You Think
5. The Story Is Mostly Pretty Awesome
The trilogy was a bit too safe, is full of plot holes and the current circumstances within the galaxy surrounding the Resistance and the First Order were never explained, but the overall narrative was actually really good.
The trilogy told another suspenseful story of overcoming the Empire against seemingly impossible odds and a lot of the details within the trilogy were especially neat.
Luke has a spiritual crisis and has to regain his confidence. A child of the Sith overcomes both her heritage and her own emotional insecurities to defeat Palpatine with the help of Luke, Leia and the Jedi of the past. The Resistance eventually wins even though it is damn-near destroyed over the course of the trilogy. Leia sacrifices herself to bring her son back from the Dark Side. Finn goes from a cowardly storm-trooper to a Resistance hero.
All of that is actually pretty awesome, especially when you factor in all the other great stuff throughout the trilogy.
There were many, many different stories Disney could've told, but the one we got was more than acceptable.
