12 Reasons The Star Wars Sequels Aren't As Bad As You Think

4. The Last Jedi Is Fantastic

The Last Jedi is a film more sinned against than sinning. It's become one of the most hated movies of recent times... despite it being one of the best Hollywood blockbusters of the last thirty years.

What makes all this so maddening is that many of the criticisms don't even focus on the film as an artistic product. Criticisms of the Canto Bight subplot, the film's various plot holes, Finn and Rose's kiss and Leia Poppins are more than valid, but much of the negativity seems to focus on the film's alleged 'SJW agenda', fan theories being ignored and the plot not being what people wanted.

Regarding the criticisms of it being SJW-propaganda, those criticisms evidently come from the toxic strand of the fandom. As for the plot, it's just like the backlash to Iron Man 3's Mandarin twist: just because a story isn't quite what you were hoping for that doesn't make it bad.

On the contrary, The Last Jedi is full of great dramatic moments, nail-biting tension and some of the best-written dialogue scenes the franchise has ever produced. Additionally, it's technically brilliant, superbly acted and by far the most audacious and moving Star Wars film of them all, making it the best Star Wars film since Empire Strikes Back for sure.

Speaking of Empire, that was initially greeted with scepticism but became very popular. Hopefully Last Jedi will also be re-evaluated by fans, because it deserves it so much.
