12 Reasons Why Casablanca is the Greatest Film of All Time

10. Greatest Film Love Story

The romance in Casablanca is almost palpable. The film is literally dripping with romance. Victor loves Ilsa so much he is willing to risk his life for her safety. Ilsa loves Rick so much she is willing to risk her life to be with him. Rick loves Ilsa so much he is willing to do anything to have her, but instead he nobly gives her over to Victor knowing that without her, Victor will no longer continue his fight against Nazi Germany. Heck, even the scene where Annina Brandel (played by Joy Page) is willing to undergo coercive rape as the price for her husband's happiness is romantic. Rick saves her from this fate, by the way. How romantic is that? And to top it all off, Casablanca was selected as the #1 love story of all time by AFI.
