12 Reasons Why Casablanca is the Greatest Film of All Time

11. Best Picture For 1944

Casablanca was nominated for an amazing seven Oscars and won three - Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing. Bogart was nominated for Best Actor, Claude Rains for Best Supporting Actor, Arthur Edeson for Best Black and White Cinematography, Owen Marks for Best Film Editing (an amazing feat with all the re-shoots and rewrites this film endured), and Max Steiner for Best Music. I would even argue that Casablanca would have been nominated for an eighth Oscar for Ingrid Bergman as Best Actress, but she had already been nominated for her performance in For Whom The Bell Tolls.
