12 Recent Films That Fell Apart In The Final Act
10. See How They Run
See How They Run, a Whodunnit set in 1950s London and starring Sam Rockwell and Saiorse Ronan, is similar to quite a few of the other films on this list. For much of its run-time it is amiable and competent enough, but the underwhelming final act makes it hard to remember the overall package with much fondness.
With any Whodunnit movie such as this, so much hinges on getting the big reveal right and paying the mystery off in a satisfying way. Sadly, in this regard, See How They Run falls completely flat, as it has a very uninteresting finale featuring a villain so forgettable most will struggle to even picture, let alone name him after the film ends. Said villain also has very weak, petty motivations for committing his crimes.
The film revolves heavily around the people involved in the West End play The Mousetrap and Agatha Christie herself appears briefly at the end, played by Shirley Henderson. See How They Run did itself precisely no favours by inviting comparisons to Agatha Christie; she was the unrivalled master of satisfying Whodunnits, after all.
