12 Recent Films That Fell Apart In The Final Act

9. Fast X

Triangle of Sadness
Universal

For most of its runtime, Fast X was a reasonably entertaining installment for the Fast and Furious series. And then... the ending arrived. And it's a solid-gold stinker.

Then again, to call the final scenes of Fast X an ending feels a bit too generous, because this film doesn't really have an ending. It just finishes mid-action scene in the most lazy way imaginable. A plane carrying Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris), Ramsey (Nathalie Emannuel) and Han (Sun Kang) is shot down, and Dominic Torretto (Vin Diesel) and his son Brian (Leo Abelo Perry) are left trapped in a cavern as main antagonist Dante (Jason Momoa) is about to blow up a dam and kill them.

The film then cuts to Antarctica, where Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cypher (Charlize Theron) have been stranded for most of the film in a lame subplot. They are rescued by a submarine, and greeted by the presumed-dead Giselle (Gal Gadot)... give me a break.

When the ending of the film gives us this groan-worthy resurrection, are we really supposed to believe any of the main characters are doomed?

Besides, even ignoring the cliffhanger, the final action scene is generally anticlimactic and the apparent death of Dom's brother Jakob (John Cena) is absolutely weightless, especially as Dom doesn't even seem that fussed about it.

This woeful ending is just another reminder of how much this franchise is losing the plot. It urgently needs to end before it loses all of its dignity.
