12 Recent Movie Sequels That Outrageously Ruined Great Characters
11. The Girl In The Spider's Web - Mikae
Lisbeth Slander might be the title character in all of the Steig Larsson adaptations but, at the end of the day, Mikael Blomkvist is the overall protagonist.
This is why it was so infuriating to see him completely shafted in the sequel-reboot, The Girl in the Spider's Web.
In the past, the character was played by the late Mikael Nyqvist and Daniel Craig, and both actors smashed it in the part with the character also being an important part of the story.
In contrast, The Girl in the Spider's Web reduces him to a nothing character, with actor Sverrir Gudnason (who also looks too young for the part) making little to no impact in the role.
The Girl in the Spider's Web was an unsatisfying misfire in general, but the sequel's treatment of poor Mikael was its most egregious offence.
