12 Recent Movies Better Reviewed Than Green Book

1. Paddington 2

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 100% (8.73/10)

Though Paddington 2 was released in the UK in November 2017, it didn't hit U.S. shores until early 2018, making it eligible for this year's Oscars, but in an unforgivable move, the delightful family comedy was shut out completely by the Academy.

Despite a passionate fan campaign for the film to be recognised, not to mention being the best-reviewed film on Rotten Tomatoes ever, it was totally ignored, because it's just a stupid film for the kids, right?

Except Paddington 2 has stronger heart, more honest observations about society and better technical craft than Green Book ever could. Hell, Paddington 2's thinly-veiled commentary about racism even feels more pointed and effective than Green Book's ham-handed pandering to white people who want to feel good about themselves.

Of all the films ignored by Oscar over the years, this is the one that's really going to be an embarrassment for years to come. If Toy Story 3 can get a Best Picture nomination, why the hell not this?

Can you imagine how amazing it would've been to see Paddington 2 win Best Picture? Instead, Green Book gets a hard stare.

What did you think of Green Book? A fitting Best Picture winner or not? Shout it out in the comments!
