12 Recent Movies Better Reviewed Than Green Book
2. Mission: Impossible - Fallout
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 97% (8.37/10)
As terrific as A Quiet Place was, far and away the best-received blockbuster of the summer was Mission: Impossible - Fallout, which was widely declared the best action film since Mad Max: Fury Road (8.58), and clearly boasted the reviews to match.
Above that, it was a major step up in craftsmanship for the Mission: Impossible franchise, with a greater emphasis on practical set-pieces and, yes, Tom Cruise's insane commitment to putting himself in harm's way for our entertainment.
The result was an uncommonly visceral tentpole which should've been up for a shedload of technical Oscars, yet didn't land even a single cursory nod.
Moreover, the Academy really should be past the point where they can just ignore a movie like this: how many people really believe that Green Book, Bohemian Rhapsody and Vice were better movies than Fallout?
As brilliant as it was, though, it's still not quite the most egregiously overlooked Best Picture prospect...
