What Happened?
Before Bosworth was cast, former The OC star Barton was considered to play Lois Lane, though the Internet got wind of her being under consideration and immediately thought he was going to be cast as Supergirl. Either way, it would have been a mistake.
The Results
She might have been a big part of The OC's success, but Mischa Barton cannot act. She is awkward and stunted on screen and her line delivery always has a faintly intoxicated edge thanks to her accent. She would have been an incredibly annoying Lois Lane and a huge departure from Margot Kidder's iconic performance.
Not that Bosworth was particularly good, of course.
