12 Ridiculously Macho Movies You Must See

8. Tango & Cash

Showdown In Little Tokyo
Warner Bros.

Tango & Cash stars the juggernaut pairing of Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell as Ray Tango and Gabriel Cash, two successful but entirely different drug detectives who are framed and sent to jail by Jack Palance’s creepy bad guy. In true buddy cop movie style, they join forces, escape from prison and go on the attack to clear their name.

Tango & Cash is definitely on the weird side of the genre with some strange touches throughout – Stallone’s relationship with his younger sister (Teri Hatcher), the erotic subtext between Tango and Cash themselves (check out the shower scene) and Kurt Russell in a dress to name a few. However, this movie is never anything but thoroughly entertaining and has some great action moments, with more than a few elements from some great Hong Kong action movies. The interplay between Stallone and Russell is enjoyable and there are some ridiculous one-liners throughout.

Tango & Cash will no doubt hold nostalgia for those who were a certain age when it was originally released, but it’s well worth a first watch if you want something entertaining and fancy seeing Jack Palance sniffing some pet mice.
