12 Ridiculously Macho Movies You Must See

9. Showdown In Little Tokyo

Showdown In Little Tokyo
Warner Bros.

Showdown In Little Tokyo is a super-cheesy buddy cop movie, starring Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee in his debut movie role. They are assigned as partners to investigate a new Yakuza gang on the rise. Lundgren plays Chris Kenner who was raised in Japan and whose parents were killed by a Yakuza gangster. Inevitably this case leads him to a showdown with the very same man in…little Tokyo obviously.

It’s a great little action/martial arts flick – it has an incredible dumb script with an overload of one-liners. Lundgren and Lee work well together and as with a lot of similar movies there is an air of strange eroticism between them at times – primarily illustrated by Brandon Lee addressing a naked Lundgren with the immortal line; “Kenner, just in case we get killed, I wanted to tell you, you have the biggest dick I’ve ever seen on a man.”

There is good support from Tia Carrere and particularly from Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as the head of the Yakuza gang. Directing is also solid from Mark L. Lester who proved his action chops with Commando several years earlier.
