8. Travis' "Sexy" Nightmare - It Comes At Night

Trey Edward Shults' low-key post-apocalyptic horror is filled with surreal nightmare sequences as experienced by Travis (Kelvin Harrison Jr.), the son of Paul (Joel Edgerton) and Sarah (Carmen Ejogo), as the three of them try to survive the contagious viral outbreak sweeping the world.

After the three are joined by two other survivors, Will (Christopher Abbott) and Kim (Riley Keough), Travis has another nightmare, in which he imagines the beautiful Kim, with who he's smitten, entering his room in her underwear, climbing on top of him, kissing him and then spitting black bile into his mouth.

It's a scene that starts off so sexy but takes such a sharp turn into unpleasant territory, you just might want to gag. Nothing over-the-top or fancy here, just a clever subversion of expectations which again underlines Travis' mental torment.
