9. Parasites - Cloverfield
Cloverfield tells the story of an attack on New York City by a giant monster and follows the experiences of the protagonists Rob, Hud, Lily and Marlena as they attempt to rescue Rob's love interest, Beth, who is trapped in her apartment across the city. The movie is filmed in 'found footage' style and includes such scenes as the Statue of Liberty's head being knocked clean off by the monster, the military attacking the monster with everything they've got and a chilling underground scene in which the main characters attempt to use the sewer system to travel away from the danger that the monster brings with it. Unfortunately for them, it's not as safe underground as they would have liked. The giant monster brought with it some friends, in the form of parasitic creatures, resembling a crab/spider hybrid - but around the size of a medium-sized dog - which attack them. Unfortunately for Marlena, she is bitten by one of them, which results in her becoming very ill and, ultimately, exploding in a very bloody manner. Which is nice.
