12 Sci-Fi Movie Endings That Were Almost Completely Different

Fans of 2018’s brutally effective, sparse sci-fi action chiller A Quiet Place, directed by former Office star John Krasinski, have Steven Spielberg of all people to thank for its stellar ending.

Originally Krasinski’s stoic patriarch went through with his (spoilers, obviously) heroic self-sacrifice in order to save his offspring, but that was where the story of his family ended. The hopeless closer seemed a little too Bergman-bleak for the multiplex crowd according to the Jaws helmer, who informed Krasinski that he needed to add a scene wherein the remaining members of the brood successfully off one of the monsters and discover their weaknesses.

So we got the still-dark but undeniably cool closing scene which the flick went with, an ending that not only gave Krasinski’s co-star and real life wife Emily Blunt a badass moment but guaranteed the film its forthcoming sequel.
