Yes, Henry Cavill’s titular hero is supposed to never kill anyone and, given his absurd gallery of powers, it’s pretty pivotal to canon that Superman doesn’t murder people. That said, this dark outing from Watchmen director Zach Snyder doesn’t leave the lad many options as Michael Shannon’s villainous General Zod prepares to off some civilians, prompting Krypton’s son to snap his neck like a stale cracker.

Now, Dark Knight director and producer on this flick Christopher Nolan envisioned a version of this ending wherein Zod would be banished rather getting his spine split, but he was ultimately overruled by the Dawn of the Dead director, and that was the last time Snyder’s final cut approval caused any controversy…
