12 Sequels That Forgot The End Of The Last Movie
2. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
The Ending
Tony Stark retires as Iron Man at the end of Iron Man 3 - or at least, he retires from wearing the suit and making lots of armour with the memorable line:
"My armour... it was never a distraction or a hobby. It was a cocoon, and now, I'm a changed man. You can take away my house, all my tricks and toys, one thing you can't take away? I AM Iron Man."
This comes after he enacts the Clean Slate protocol and wipes out his Iron Legon, and while he restates his title at the end there, there's no avoiding the fact that he retires.
But Then...
By the start of Avengers: Age Of Ultron, not only is Tony not retired anymore, but he's also been working on an Iron Legion again - this time of drones rather than alternate suits - as if nothing that happened at the end of Iron Man 3 even mattered anymore. Once again, it's a win for the MCU continuity department.
