12 Sequels That Forgot The End Of The Last Movie

The Ending

In the post-credits scene for X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Wolverine is fished out of the Potomac River, where Magneto threw him by what appears to be Major Stryker.

By the look of it, he's going to be headed towards the Weapons X programme, but then as Professor X's voice-over walks about changing the tide and the future not being truly set, it turns out that Stryker is in fact Mystique in disguise. She says "I'll take him from here..." suggesting she has her own plans and the scene ends.

But Then...

In X-Men: Apocalypse, Wolverine is still on the Weapons X programme having been brainwashed by the real Stryker as he was in the original timeline. You know, despite the fact that Mystique became a mutant-liberating hero and Stryker didn't have Logan in his custody at the end of the last movie.

So what the hell happened? Did Mystique suddenly forget that she had big plans for Wolverine and simply let him loose to then be captured by the real Stryker? Or are we supposed to just forget that stinger as easily as the X-Men film-makers did.
