12 Shelved Movies That Would've Been INSANE
1. Skate Jam
Premise: Long before LeBron James was cast to lead a sequel to 1996's live-action/animated basketball comedy Space Jam, studio executives at Warner Bros. had a very different sport in mind. According to Tony Hawks himself, he was approached during the early 2000s to star alongside the Loony Tunes in a skateboarding-themed follow-up.
Why It Didn't Happen: The film was set to follow on from 2003's revival of the franchise, Looney Tunes: Back in Action. However, upon its release, the film bombed earning back only two-thirds of its $80 budget. This event led to the closure of Warner Bros. Feature Animation Studios and the shelving of their future projects which included the now-in-development Skate Jam.
Will It Ever Happen? Probably not. Despite becoming a video game icon and a permanent fixture on Twitter's moments tab, Tony Hawks is sadly no longer the draw he once was. In addition, the upcoming re-make is likely to bring the franchise to a new generation of iconic figures in the world of sports. Although, to many fans, a brief cameo wouldn't go amiss.
