12 Shocking Movie Deaths You Won't Believe Almost Happened

8. Paranormal Activity €“ Katie Dies In A Couple Of Gruesome Ways

When Paramount acquired the rights for Paranormal Activity, the studio developed a couple of new endings because they thought the original one sucked. Out of the three existing endings, the one you most likely saw involved Katie (Katie Featherston) looking creepily at the camera before lunging at it in one final jump scare. The remaining two alternative endings, however, both went in the complete opposite direction, with Katie dying in some pretty gruesome ways. Before Paramount got the film, the original ending involved the police discovering a dead Micah (Micah Sloat) and a possessed Katie wielding a blood-soaked knife. Upon trying to get her to drop the knife, the police are attacked by Katie and they're forced to shoot her dead. As for the second Paramount ending, well that was a far more gruesome conclusion - Katie gets possessed and and murders Micah off-camera with a knife. After some silence, a blood-covered Katie returns, approaches the still-running camera, and slits her own throat before collapsing dead. After a few screenings featuring the second Paramount ending, the studio quickly realised that they have a new horror franchise on their hands and quickly re-released the film with their 'Katie lives' conclusion instead. Based on how every subsequent Paranormal Activity movie turned out, they probably should've just let her die.

My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem. Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh. You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
