Against the backdrop of a continually raining and unidentified city, two cops are investigating a serial killer whose modus operandi is based on the Seven Deadly sins. The most startling moment in this disturbing film comes with the revelation of the Sloth killing. An emaciated man is tied to a bed. He appears to be dead but then he suddenly screeches. He has been kept immobile by the killer for a year to the day he was found. The 'victim' was a child molester and drug dealer so he ended up as Sloth. Who cares about stupid Gwyneth Paltrow's head ending up in a box? The Sloth guy's moment of animation is much more startling. A twisted moment in a very dark film.
My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
