The whole premise that the world is having to live on corn for the rest of their miserable existence in Christopher Nolans confusing intergalactic epic is clearly designed to amp up the misery stakes. Imagine the hell. But what the film fails to notice is that corn simply cannot just continue to grow in dust bowl conditions. It should be the drought and dusty atmosphere that wipe out the crops, rather than the blight that picks it off slowly, as theres literally no way those sort of conditions could produce even remotely healthy plants, let alone edible ones. Thats why people arent farming in the desert. Also, what are all of the surviving humans in space eating? How come theyve mastered the ability to grow in outer space, but they couldnt just start to cultivate crops indoors on Earth away from all the blight and dust?
