12 Stupid Mistakes That Somehow Made It Into 2014 Movies

5. Nobody Cares About Amy's Injuries - Gone Girl

The strength of Gone Girl€™s impact rests almost entirely on the astonishing performance of Rosamund Pike, who helps the film burrow under your nails and into the back of your eyes and leave an irresistible, unshakable residue. Sadly, when you come out of the film and start to analyse all the holes in her plot to implicate her hapless husband in her own murder, it all falls apart a little, but the performance remains so there€™s room to forgive a few slips. It€™s hard, however, not to question a police force that would wilfully ignore the fact that Amy should have had a massive bleeding injury, since she left a gigantic pool of blood on the kitchen floor. If it was enough to make them think she was dead, why didn€™t anyone question where the wound was when she reappeared? Perhaps they were all too distracted worrying about the real crime in the film - the fact that Nick and Amy have been in Missouri for at least a year and a half at the time the film is set, but Nick's car still has New York plates.
