Promised By: Terminator Following in the footsteps of Bicentennial Man and HAL is the prospect of Skynet, the artificial intelligence system which inadvertently causes the fall of civilisation in the Terminator franchise. Devised as a way of making the struggles of mankind much more manageable through the use of really cool robots, Skynet ultimately becomes self aware and decides that killing all humans is the best thing for us, having an advantage over HAL in that it had an army of Terminators, which it could endlessly produce to take care of business. According to the movies, Skynet should have gone live in August of 2013, meaning that if this is true, the robots have undertaken a much sneaker plan of attack than we saw on screen - probably producing the Biebers and Cyruses of the world in order to slowly drive humanity to lose the will to live themselves, and thus wiping us out in a much more gruesome fashion than obliterating us with laser gun-toting killbots.
