12 Terrible Movie Characters Redeemed By Awesome Deaths
8. Laurel Hedare - Catwoman
You know what a Catwoman movie clearly needed? A villain that's the psychopathic head of a cosmetics company, hell-bent on releasing a new makeup line which will force its users to become repeat customers, because if they don't keep buying the makeup, their face will disintegrate. That's what.
Laurel Hedare (Sharon Stone) is just such a baddie, and she's as awful as you'd expect. Not awful in the "oh, what a terrible person" way, but legitimately awful in the sense of "why does this character exist, and why is she being played by Sharon Stone?" Stone, for her sins, received a Worst Supporting Actress Razzie nomination.
Cause Of Death: Laurel's death is so hilariously over-the-top it almost compensates entirely for how woeful her character otherwise is. During the film's climax, she of course battles Catwoman (Halle Berry) in her giant skyscraper, and Laurel ends up clinging for dear life from the edge of the building.
Once she sees her scratched, eroding face in the reflection of a window, though, she refuses to take Catwoman's hand and wilfully falls to her death.
From the awesome, extreme sports-style flips Hedare performs through the air as she falls, to the blatant mannequin used for the sequence, and the fact she crashes through a glass ceiling (ha!) before finally hitting the floor, it's cinematic overkill at its most glorious.
