12 Things You Didn't Know About December's Biggest Movies
6. Mark Wahlberg Lost 61 Pounds For The Gambler
Though it might not be immediately obvious by looking at Mark Wahlberg in his fancy suits in The Gambler, the actor lost a ton of weight from the more muscular frame he's boasted in movies such as The Fighter, Pain and Gain and Transformers: Age of Extinction. In order to lose a whopping 61 pounds to have a more lean, down-to-Earth appearance, Wahlberg was on a medically supervised liquid diet, where he merely drank 8 ounces of almond milk three times a day. The actor said that his lips turned blue from malnutrition due to the diet, which he maintained for a whole 6 weeks before returning to the allure of "real" food. Wahlberg has since said that he won't be accepting any future roles that require such drastic weight loss, because the experience left him miserable. Sadly, Wahlberg's dedication isn't likely to net him much awards attention if The Gambler's mixed reviews so far are to be believed.
